I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life. But I’ve found that focusing on my mistakes is an incredible waste of time! Sure, it’s good for us to learn from our mistakes, but dwelling on them is pointless. If we need to learn to look past our setbacks we’ll even discover the purpose in our pain. If I’m focusing on what I’ve done wrong, I’m still living on my past. No good can come from watering last year’s crop. An ancient philosopher once wrote, ‘Waste not fresh tears over old griefs.’ Paul the Apostle wrote, “Forgetting those things which are behind, I press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Water your future with faith! Believe that God can redeem every mistake… every disappointment… even every hurt. Don’t let your past pain define you! Let God’s eternal purpose for your pain inspire you! Ask Him to reveal the true value of all you’ve been through. Even Jesus learned obedience through the things He suffered. Allow God to form you into the person He created you to be.
