William Booth & the Salvation Army
General William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, taught his officers both men and women, to fight fear with faith. When a threatening mob covered an officer’s jacket with spit because of his commitment to follow Jesus, William Booth encouraged him. “Don’t rub it off. It’s a metal.” Since 1865, the Salvation Army’s mission has always been to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name.
