God If You Would Just Do This!
All of us think we know what’s best, but we rarely do. We pray, “God, if you would just do this or that, then my life will be blessed!” We bring a wish list to God, looking for Him to sign off on our requests, As if we actually know better than He does. Frankly, I don’t have enough information to know what’s best. I can’t predict the future, barely understand my past, and need to admit I’m somewhat clueless about what’s best in the present. So, I need to trust that God knows all these things. Oswald Chambers writes, “We must never put our dreams of success as God’s purpose for us; His purpose may be exactly the opposite. We have an idea that God is leading us to a particular end, a desired goal; He is not. The question of getting to a particular end is a mere incident. What we call the process, God calls the end.” The end goal for God is the process He’s guiding us through.
