DAY 24 –

LIVING WITHOUT LOCKS

After the Jesus Movement Revival had long since ceased, my wife and I lived in and led a Christian community of 75 people for over four years without locks on our doors. And these weren’t just any people. Some were murderers, many were recovering drug addicts and alcoholics, and a few had even been in prison for 10 to 20 years. From our first day, when I asked an “out of control” person to leave, he said he was going to come back and kill me. So, from the very beginning, my wife and I resolved, “If God couldn’t protect us, we couldn’t be protected.” Over the next 4 ½ years, though my life was threatened on several occasions, God kept us. No harm was done to us or our young children. I wanted to keep my family safe. I just believed that no one could do it better than God.
