Are you trying to measure up to God? Ha! You must be exhausted! Because you and I will never do it! Remember, He’s perfect, and as I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’re not. But, as we grow more attached to His perfection, we’ll be less stumbled by our own imperfection. The goal in life is not to measure up to God. That would be futile! Instead, His marvelous plan is that we would learn to rest so completely in His perfection, that we won’t be overwhelmed by our own lack. “Jesus saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.” When we receive God’s perfect love for us, we begin to understand that He covers us with such love and compassion. Only then can we focus on what’s right in Him, more than what’s wrong in us. I’m not trying to measure up to God. That would only make me feel hopeless and ashamed. I’m basking in His complete acceptance, which He purchased for me when He died and rose again.
